Control System Performance Engineer

The opportunity

Join the Power Quality Global Center of Competence in Västerås! We specialize in FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) technology, which enhances power system capacity and stability. This allows more power to reach customers with minimal environmental impact and lower costs.

We are expanding our team and looking for skilled engineers with expertise in power systems and control systems for power converters. Your main task will be to ensure the dynamic performance of our control solutions based on customer grid code requirements.

How you'll make an impact

  • Contribute to the development of base and project-specific control system functionalities for various FACTS converters, ensuring strong dynamic performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Take ownership of control system performance from project start to commissioning, including simulation studies using PSCAD and RTDS to verify dynamic behaviour.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests and Commissioning to validate control system performance, and produce technical reports and presentations for customers.
  • Collaborate across functions and within the team, providing training and technical support throughout project delivery, while also supporting tenders and R&D activities.
  • Interpret customer specifications, engage in customer meetings, and coordinate with all disciplines involved to align technical solutions with project and tender requirements.
  • Actively contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous learning in high-power converter control systems, working closely with global teams in an international environment.

Your background

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in power systems and control system analysis, with deep expertise in the field.
  • Strong knowledge of control theory for high-power electronic converters and hands-on experience developing complex control functions in MACH systems or equivalent C/C++ platforms.
  • Proficient in tools such as PSCAD, RTDS, and Hidraw (or equivalents) for developing real-time control systems deployed in the field.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Additional languages are a plus.
  • Independent, responsible, and communicative team player who thrives in dynamic, multicultural environments.
