The opportunity
Hitachi Energy is looking for a Laboratory test Engineer for the Business Unit Transformers to join our innovative and forward-thinking team in Ludvika. In this role, you will work onsite leading the technical aspects of testing products in the Test center including the definition, planning, execution, and analysis of testing processes. This position offers the opportunity to drive continuous improvement in testing processes, contributing to Hitachi Energy’s vision of delivering smarter and more sustainable energy solutions.
How you’ll make an impact
- Test scope: Execution of mechanical, electrical, magnetics and climate testing.
- Test Campaigns: Prepare, execute, and document test activities, including data acquisition, analysis, and technical reporting.
- Lab Optimization & Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve lab processes and standardized tests.
- Mechanical Setup Development: Design mechanical fixtures and test setups using 3D CAD tools; create and validate test features.
- Electrical Setup Development: Implement instrumentation and data acquisition systems, including sensors, wiring, and network integration.
- Calibration routines: Guarantee calibration is up to date in the laboratory.
Your background
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with hands-on experience in laboratory testing or test engineering environments.
- Experience with sensors, DAQ systems, and electrical instrumentation. improvement of lab processes through automation, scripting, or system optimization is a plus.
- Familiarity in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work with test data.
- Knowledge of climate/environmental testing is a plus.
- Strong understanding of testing protocols, quality standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., IEC, IEEE, ISO 9001, ISO 45001).
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to evaluate test results and performance metrics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct thorough failure analyses and implement corrective actions.
