The Role
We are looking for a curious and skilled software developer who wants to play a central role in our Data, Communication, and Software operations. This position is vital to MITC’s mission of bridging the gap between cutting-edge digital technologies and the practical needs of modern production systems.
As a Software Developer, you’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team of experts in AI, data, robotics, simulation, visualization, and industrial automation. You will lead and contribute to exciting applied research projects, industry collaborations, and the development of testbed infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and drive MITC’s operational software and data integration activities alongside the AI & Data Manager
- Serve as our in-house expert in software, system integration, and lab IT infrastructure
- Develop and manage our industrial IoT platform (PTC ThingWorx) and server/network architecture
- Implement data communication across diverse systems (machines, robots, sensors, ERP, MES)
- Build and deploy backend and frontend applications that interface with real production systems
- Engage in applied research projects, supporting innovation and collaboration with academia
- Host and contribute to knowledge-sharing events such as seminars and workshops
- Support student collaboration (e.g. thesis projects, guest lectures) in cooperation with Mälardalen University
- Drive system-level improvements and contribute to MITC’s strategic development
What We’re Looking For
- A hands-on developer who is passionate about innovation in smart manufacturing
- Fluent in C/C#, .NET and Python; experience with Unity, Visual Components, or similar tools is a plus
- Frontend skills in HTML/CSS/JavaScript and experience with IoT platforms like ThingWorx
- Familiarity with API integrations and backend frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP
- A strong grasp of communication between embedded systems and enterprise-level platforms
- Someone who thrives in a multidisciplinary team and values openness, diversity, and continuous learning
- Experience from Agile way of working
- Strong documentation and communication skills in English, Swedish is a plus
Bonus if you have:
- Experience with PLCs, sensor integration, or embedded systems
- Worked on production/testbed environments
- Contributed to research projects or external collaborations
- Understanding of Industrial IT infrastructure (networks, servers)
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent background
