About the Assignment:

As a GST Quality Lead, you will be embedded in AstraZeneca’s External Quality (EQ) organization, which oversees all GMP-related quality matters for outsourced activities – including the manufacturing of APIs, drug products, devices, and materials.

In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end Quality oversight of selected Brand Supply Chains within EQ, in close collaboration with Global Supply Chain (GSC) and External Sourcing & Manufacturing (ESM). Your work will support the full lifecycle of externally sourced products, ensuring Quality excellence from supplier to customer or AstraZeneca site.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the main Quality contact for AZ Marketing Companies, alliance partners, and third-party customers.
  • Leading or supporting Issue Management Teams (IMTs) in the resolution of quality issues.
  • Ensuring alignment with established Quality Assurance Agreements and frameworks.
  • Supporting Quality Directors and providing governance-level input into product supply strategies.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in a scientific/technical field (e.g. Pharmacy, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering) or equivalent professional experience
  • Broad experience in pharmaceutical Quality Assurance or manufacturing operations
  • Strong understanding of cGMP, Quality Systems, and global pharma supply chain standards
  • Leadership skills and the ability to act as a key Quality voice across functions and geographies
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage cross-functional quality initiatives

Desirable:

  • Background in a PCO organization or formal Lean/Six Sigma training
  • Experience working across multiple sites or functions
  • Advanced degree in QA, Regulatory Affairs, or a related scientific field

Qualifications

Essentials

• Bachelor’s degree in a science / technical field such as Pharmacy, Biology, Chemistry or Engineering or relevant experience

• Proven broad experience in either the pharmaceutical operations environment or pharmaceutical Quality Assurance

• Strong demonstrated knowledge of cGMPs, Quality Systems and the pharmaceutical supply chain environment including strong understanding of industry standards such as Pharmacopeia, ISO standards, etc.

• At the highest level, demonstrated leadership capability and interpersonal skills to serve as the Quality leader for Brand Supply Chain(s)

• Strong problem solving and negotiating/influencing skills. Ability to work independently and excellent oral and written communication skills are also required. As is demonstrated experience working cross-functionally and managing significant improvement initiatives (e.g. project management skills)


Desirable Skills

• Experience working in a PCO organisation or Lean/Six Sigma training

• Multi-site / multi-functional experience

• Shown experience in Quality Assurance or combination of Quality and Technical

• Master’s degree in QA Regulatory Affairs or other advanced scientific field
